Cynthia Sherwood, DDS
Dr. Sherwood – or Dr. Cindi as her patients know her -has been practicing in
the area for over 30 years. She received a degree in dental hygiene from Wichita State University before graduating from the University of Missouri-Kansas City with her DDS degree. Dr. Cindi takes more than the required continuing education hours every year and has received a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (an award requiring 500 hours of extra education and an examination).
Dr. Sherwood holds membership with several dental organizations, including the Kansas Dental Association where she served as its first female President. Dr. Cindi is a member of the American Dental Association and has represented Kansas as a delegate for 12 years. Additionally she has received Fellowships in the International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy, an honor bestowed on only 3% of the dentists in the U.S.
Dr. Cindi has given back to the community by working with 21 Mission of Mercy projects. During these events, she has helped other volunteers set up a 100 chair dental clinic where they provide dental care to approximately 1,800 patients during a two day period. She is currently Vice President for the Kansas Dental Lifeline Network which is an organization that recruits dentists and dental laboratories to provide free, comprehensive dental care to elderly, medically compromised and disabled patients.
Dr. Cindi is passionate about providing quality dental care and has many goals as a dentist, including the following:
- To teach people how to maintain their teeth for life
- To make dental treatment as pleasant and pain-free as possible
- To develop friendships with patients for life
- To restore teeth so our patients have beautiful smiles as well as functioning teeth
Dr. Sherwood has been married to Byrle, an architect, for over 39 years. They have three children: Eli, Audrey and Daniel. Eli, and his wife Niki, presented them with a Granddaughter, London, who is 1. When Dr. Cindi isn’t working she loves to read, travel and follow the Kansas Jayhawks.
Meet Our Team
Linda – Registered Dental Hygienist
Linda has worked at our practice since October 1999. She grew up in Independence and attended Zion Lutheran School, Independence Senior High School, and ICC before attending the Wichita State Dental Hygiene Program. Linda enjoys building relationships with our patients and providing the comfortable and thorough care our patients need. When she’s not at the office, Linda loves spending time with her family and friends.
Kylie – Dental Assistant
Kylie joined our team in September 2014 and helps both chairside and in our office laboratory. She grew up in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 2010. She married her husband, Jonathan, in September of 2014. Kylie attended ICC until 2012. Kylie enjoys assisting our surgical dental treatments and helps our patients feel comfortable during their visit. She loves going on vacations and spending time with her family!
Allyson – Dental Assistant
Ally joined our team in July 2017 and helps both chairside and in the office laboratory. She grew up in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 2016. She went to college at Labette Community College and majored in dental assisting and graduated in 2017. She is engaged to be married to her High School sweetheart, Joshua in May 2018. She loves everything about dentistry and is excited to have joined the team. She enjoys cooking, shopping, and spending time with her fiancé and family.
Tamar – Office Manager
Tamar joined our team in February 2017. Though she was born in Montana, she grew up in the Cherryvale and Independence area. She has worked as an Administrative Assistant since 1999. She married her husband, Mark, in 1995, and they have one grown daughter, Ashton. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and her animals, redecorating her home, going shopping, especially antiquing.
Ashley– Office Assistant
Ashley joined our practice in July 2016. She grew up in Caney and graduated from Caney Valley High School. She then went to Coffeyville Community College before going to Kansas State University. It was in Manhattan, KS where she met her husband, Brett, who grew up in Independence. They lived in Manhattan for 12 years and recently moved back to southeast Kansas for Brett’s job and to be closer to their families. Ashley previously worked at a pediatric dental office in Manhattan. When she is not working, Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband and family, golfing, going to the lake, shopping and spoiling her two dogs, Kabela and Sophie.
